Donald Trump Urges Representatives to ‘Act Quickly’ as Meeting Commence in Egypt

What’s in Donald Trump’s Twenty-Point ‘Peace Plan’ for Gaza?

Assuming the two parties consent to a specific series of terms, the cessation of hostilities will be paired with the release of all individuals held by Hamas, whether deceased or surviving, “in under three days” of Israel publicly accepting the arrangement.

To reciprocate the freeing of captives, Israel would free 250 individuals of Palestinian origin currently serving lengthy incarcerations and an additional 1,700 Palestinians in the Gaza region held since the conflict started on October 7, 2023 subsequent to the lethal assault by Hamas on Israeli soil.

For each captive from Israel whose body is returned, Israeli officials will return the remains of 15 deceased Palestinians.

The strategy does not mandate a total Israeli retreat ahead of the hostage liberation. Rather, the Israeli army would pull back to an agreed upon line, inside Gaza, to get ready for a hostage release.

This initiative says that all military operations, encompassing aerial and artillery bombardment, will be halted throughout the release process and combat positions will remain frozen until “terms are fulfilled for the complete staged withdrawal”.

When every captive are liberated, amnesty will be given to individuals associated with Hamas – the Islamist military group that Israel’s prime minister, PM Netanyahu, has consistently pledged to eradicate – who agree to non-violent cohabitation and to surrender their arms.

People who want to exit Gaza will be given protected movement to countries who have consented to accept them.

The 20-point plan foresees Gaza as “an area free from radicalization and terror that does not pose a threat to neighboring countries”. Furthermore, it states the territory will be “revitalized for the advantage of the Gaza residents, who have suffered more than enough”.

Crucially, and in defiance of the vision of certain the far-right allies of Netanyahu, Israel will avoid occupying or annex the territory, which was the location of 21 Israeli settlements ahead of their residents were evacuated in 2005.

Furthermore, not anyone be forced to leave Gaza, the proposal assures. People who wish to leave will be authorized to do so without restriction and allowed to come back.

The Hamas organization will not be permitted any involvement, “in any capacity”, in the future administration of the area.

Trump Encourages Representatives to ‘Accelerate Progress’ as They Assemble in the Egyptian Republic for Gaza Discussions

Donald J. Trump has called on representatives of Hamas and Israel gathering in the nation of Egypt for crucial talks aimed at ending the Israeli conflict in Gaza to “accelerate progress,” stating, in comments on Sunday, that there had been “highly favorable” discussions.

The American leader said:

There were very positive negotiations with the Hamas organization, and Countries from across the planet (Arab, Muslim, and various other countries) during the weekend, to release the Hostages, end the War in the Gaza region but, more importantly, ultimately secure long sought PEACE in the Middle East.

These talks have been very successful, and proceeding rapidly. The technical teams will meet once more this Monday, in Egypt, to address and refine the last points. It has been reported that the initial stage is expected to conclude in the coming days, and I am requesting everyone to ACCELERATE PROGRESS.

America’s representative Steve Witkoff is slated to attend the discussions, according to sources in Israel, alongside Israel’s negotiators and a Palestinian group led by Khalil al-Hayya, the assistant leader of the administrative wing of Hamas.

Khalil al-Hayya is reportedly due to meet with mediators from Egyptian and Qatari officials in Cairo, Egypt today in the morning, before negotiations in the resort city of Egypt of Sharm El-Sheikh.

Nevertheless, the lead negotiator for Israel, Minister of Strategic Affairs Minister Dermer, is expected to join talks in the coming days, pending progress in the negotiations, based on several officials from Israel.

Positive outlook on a prospective cessation of hostilities has escalated globally, with western and Arab leaders encouraging Israel and Hamas to come to a deal. This past Sunday, the Germany’s chancellor, Chancellor Merz, spoke with Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel and showed approval for the Trump proposal, calling it “the most favorable prospect for resolution”, based on a readout.
