Interference and Toenails: Eubank Jr vs Hearn Confrontation

Eubank overcame Benn via every one of the scoring scorecards in the April bout

Chris Eubank Jr's grievances against Conor Benn along with his team resulted in a media event promoting their rematch to turn into relentless arguing

Eubank, thirty-five, took the chance to claim that Benn's camp as well as Eddie Hearn attempted to "sabotage" him prior to their first match with Benn during April

Among numerous accusations, he declared that Benn's team meddled in Eubank's weight cut, branding them as "cutthroat" plus "unscrupulous"

"They did everything they could to weaken me during this last bout", Eubank started, "Contract violations, penalties, rehydration clauses, sabotage weigh-in, partial broadcasting and refereeing" – before Eddie Hearn rejected the claims labeling them false

This Wednesday news conference marked the initial occasion Eubank & Conor Benn had met one another after their initial bout

Eubank was admitted in the hospital following the win and disclosed shed one of his toenails because of "extreme lack of fluids"

"I have never heard this much waffle", Hearn retorted, "You are acting like a victim"

The British opponents will fight again in November, with Benn looking for payback after a decision loss

The second fight hopes to recreate the excitement of their initial match, when the sons of fighting icons Eubank Sr & Benn Sr faced off in front of 60,000 spectators at the Spurs ground

Chris and Eddie clashed multiple times during the build-up before the first bout, with the former often heckling the opposing promoter each time Hearn talked

The bad blood has spilled over, as Eubank Jr claiming Conor Benn for going on a "victory tour" despite losing

"I'm saying him now & now, he is not no titleholder and you certainly ain't no people's champion", he declared

"These men aren't humble fighters" Eubank added, "They are acting. They're acting to be the good guys. Wolves disguised as innocent looks"

Conor Benn refused to rise to his provocations, letting his promoter do the bulk of responding

But, this 28-year-old vowed to be not as "greedy" during their second fight

"I felt as if I had been one punch close to winning, yet I was always seeking that knockout blow", Benn explained

Following an entire media event filled with squabbling, the face-off passed with no significant drama

Eubank smirked toward his opponent, although following a previous egg-slap episode earlier this year, organizers had plenty of security nearby to keep things peaceful

Prior to the arguments, attendees witnessed a poignant tribute for multiple-division world champion Ricky Hatton

Hatton died on weekend, at the age of just forty-six

Benn wore a Manchester City jersey to pay respects to this Manchester fighter with a moment of silence to Hatton at the start of the news conference

Speaking ahead of the event, Benn stated that Ricky had been his "idol"

"I cannot truly process it", Benn said

"He had been somebody that genuinely helped my career and also somebody who took me in. Similar to a father figure would"

"He gave me a sense of comfort at a time I didn't have stability. He represented so much to me. Very close to me as well as my relatives"

"He was somebody I looked up to personally, he became my hero", Benn continued

"He is an icon. It is even now hard to accept. I have little to say. My love to his loved ones"
